ICPAL – Central Institute for the Pathology of Archives and Books

On May 22, we had the honor of visiting the prestigious ICPAL (Central Institute for the Pathology of Archives and Books) in Rome, which is directed by the Ministry of Culture. During the meeting, which was sponsored by the Preventive Conservation and Library Science courses and focused on “IPM methods applied to ancient and/or valuable historical goods of organic nature,” we discussed various issues related to Cultural Heritage preservation with the students. We also illustrated risk assessment, possible intervention scenarios, and the effectiveness of treatments.

We focused on the anoxic method using our VELOXY® machinery to involve the teachers and students in simulating a real on-site intervention. It was a special opportunity to answer their many questions and address their concerns. The discussion was full of valuable insights and constructive comparisons.

We would like to thank the teaching team and management for their helpfulness and for making the meeting possible with the presence of students from all five years.
