Alessandria – Palazzo del Governatore (Palatium Vetus)

One of our most recent projects was carried out at the Palazzo del Governatore (Palatium Vetus) in Alessandria, Italy.

The Palazzo del Governatore (Palatium Vetus) was originally built as the administrative center of the medieval municipality—the broletto, a walled-in area where political and administrative functions were carried out. Its institutional role came to an end in 1995, when it ceased to serve as a Military District Headquarters.
Decommissioned and left unused, it remained dormant until the Fondazione Cassa di Risparmio di Alessandria stepped in, breathing new life into the structure and transforming it into a center for the promotion and preservation of art and culture.

Thanks to a project developed in collaboration with Fondazione CRAL, over the years RGI has provided scheduled maintenance and support services aimed at safeguarding the cultural heritage housed within the Palace. These activities are tailored to the specific technical needs of the artworks displayed in the gallery and other exhibition areas of the building.

Within this context, RGI carries out specialist interventions in various areas open to the public, including:

  • Disinfection and dust removal from the internal surfaces of display cases;
  • Glass polishing to ensure high levels of transparency;
  • Inspection of technical systems used to control the relative humidity inside the display cases;
  • Inspection of lighting elements.

Microclimate control and monitoring in the gallery:

  • Extraction of digital files containing climate data recorded by RGI devices, along with the delivery of reports on temperature and relative humidity trends;
  • Technical maintenance of RGI equipment installed in the gallery spaces.
